Grand jury indicts man in drug overdose death

5/25/2006

A Toledo man accused of robbing and killing a Michigan man by giving him an excessive amount of methadone was indicted yesterday by a Lucas County grand jury.

Mark Houseworth, 38, of 2848 Chestnut St., faces murder and robbery charges. He was being held in the county jail in lieu of a $550,000 bond.

The charges stem from the death of Randolph Regan, 58, of Rochester, Mich., who investigators said died from a combination of methadone and alcohol. He was found outside a downtown building on April 29.

Police believe the suspect used methadone to subdue Mr. Regan and take his jewelry, which was recovered at a local pawn shop.
