A Sylvania man charged with aggravated murder in the stabbing of his wife will go on trial in October in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Frederick McDonald yesterday continued the trial date of Danny Anaya from Aug. 21 to Oct. 10 during a hearing to address pretrial issues.

It was the fourth trial date that Judge McDonald has scheduled for Mr. Anaya, who is accused in the fatal stabbing of his wife, Rhonda Anaya, 43, in their home at 8034 Littlefield Ct. on Oct. 25.

Mr. Anaya's attorney, Pete Rost, asked for a new date because he is scheduled for trial in another case.

Judge McDonald granted the request, but noted on the record that previous trial dates were changed, in part, because of conflicts with the trial schedules of assistant prosecutors.

Mr. Anaya, 55, was found competent to stand trial on April 13 after being evaluated by psychologists. Mr. Rost was appointed last month to represent the defendant, replacing an attorney who withdrew from the case.

Mr. Anaya is being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of a $5 million bond.
