More street closings set for All-Star game

7/8/2006

The temporary closing of one block of South St. Clair Street that began yesterday morning will be followed by more street closings tomorrow and a 10-hour shutdown of the Anthony Wayne Bridge on Tuesday, all for events associated with the Triple-A All-Star Baseball Game at Fifth Third Field.

St. Clair closed yesterday between Lafayette and Washington streets, and at 8 a.m. tomorrow it also will close between Washington and Monroe Street. At 8 a.m. tomorrow, Monroe will close between Summit and Huron streets, and the left lane on Huron will close between Monroe and Washington.

At 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Anthony Wayne Bridge - also known as the High Level Bridge - will close for preparations for Thunder Over Toledo, a fireworks display that is being held as part of a gala event for the Triple-A game and the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic presented by Kroger.

Bridge traffic will be detoured to the I-75 DiSalle Bridge. All lanes of Huron between Monroe and Washington also will be closed during that time.

From 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Martin Luther King, Jr., Bridge will be closed to boat traffic on the Maumee River to allow uninterrupted vehicular traffic across the river during the evening rush hour while the Anthony Wayne Bridge is closed.

The All-Star game is scheduled for Wednesday evening. All of the closed streets and lanes near Fifth Third Field are scheduled to reopen by 7 a.m. Thursday.
