Toledoan sent to prison for Wood County thefts

7/8/2006

BOWLING GREEN - A Toledo man who stole boxes of chewing gum from gas stations and carryouts in Wood County was sentenced yesterday by Common Pleas Court Judge Alan Mayberry to one year in prison.

Raymond Parse, 48, of 631 White St., pleaded guilty in April to five counts of complicity to theft. A charge of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

He and David Rogers, 42, of 6 Stratton St., were charged with going to businesses in Northwood, Perrysburg, and Rossford between Oct. 1 and Nov. 13, placing boxes of gum under their coats, and leaving without paying.

Mr. Rogers has been wanted by authorities since he failed to appear for his court arraignment in January.
