7/28/2006

PORT CLINTON An Ottawa County grand jury yesterday indicted a carnival worker who allegedly left her toddler alone while she drank beer with her fellow workers.

Megan M. Johnson, 21, of Springfield, Ohio, was indicted on one count of child endangering. She was being held in the Ottawa County Detention Facility.

Sheriff s deputies arrested Ms. Johnson on July 22 at the Ottawa County Fair near Oak Harbor, where she was staying and working, after a security guard found her 2-year-old daughter sleeping on a gravel road at the fairgrounds.

Deputies said when they found Ms. Johnson, she was intoxicated and had lied to investigators about the length of time she had left her child alone.

She was being held in the county jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Her attorney had earlier entered a not guilty plea on her behalf in Ottawa County Municipal Court.

A Common Pleas Court date was not set.
