ADRIAN - Three people were charged with possession and use of illegal fireworks in the wake of an accident July 4 that resulted in a 6-year-old Adrian boy losing an eye to a projectile from fireworks, Michigan State Police said yesterday.
Caiden Carter was with his father near their home on Rome Road when a projectile traveled about 100 feet and struck him in his left eye. His parents drove him to Bixby Medical Center in Adrian; he was later transferred to University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, where the eye was removed.
Lt. Harold Love said the three suspects were charged July 21 in 2nd District Court with two misdemeanors each. He declined to identify the trio, ages 23, 25, and 28.
