Evidence upheld for trial of caged kids parents

NORWALK A Huron County Common Pleas Court judge has denied a motion to throw out evidence gathered during a search of the home of the Huron County couple who lost custody of their 11 adopted children.

Judge Earl McGimpsey ruled Friday that the evidence can be used in the Nov. 14 trial of Michael and Sharen Gravelle.

The children were removed from the home after the Sept. 9 search and placed in foster care.

The Gravelles claim the search violated the Fourth Amendment because it was not based on probable cause and because the information used to obtain the search warrant was false.

The Gravelles were indicted on felony charges of endangering children, perjury, and falsification, plus misdemeanor charges of endangering children.
