Bandit given 7-year term for Ohio heist

A Coldwater, Mich., man who led authorities on a high-speed chase more than two years ago following a bank robbery in Archbold, Ohio, was sentenced yesterday on federal charges.

Terry Allen Horsley, 42, was known as the "Friday Bandit" because of a string of Friday bank heists in which he was a suspect. Convicted of bank robbery, Horsley yesterday was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge James Carr in Toledo to seven years in prison.

Horsley held up the Sky Bank in Archbold on April 7, 2004, then fled into Michigan, where he crashed his pickup into a tree five miles south of Hillsdale.

Two years ago, he was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison by a Hillsdale County Circuit Court in Michigan, and Judge Carr yesterday ordered that the federal sentence be served concurrently.

A suspect in another bank robbery in Ohio and four in Michigan and Indiana, Horsley still may face charges in those jurisdictions, said David Dustin, supervisory agent of the criminal division in Toledo's FBI office.
