Lenks Addition is next model block

Residents of a central-city neighborhood near Savage Park should be seeing an influx of police, nuisance inspectors, refuse trucks, and tree-trimming equipment starting this week.

Mayor Carty Finkbeiner has declared a nine-block area known on property records as Lenks Addition as the latest model block. The area is bounded by Vance, Elizabeth, Tecumseh, and Hawley streets.

In an announcement on Tuesday, Mr. Finkbeiner noted that the community of large frame houses is one of Toledo's oldest neighborhoods, built during the 1920s.

The model block program is a two-week effort in which city services are concentrated to spruce up a neighborhood, crack down on criminals, and pressure property owners to remove trash and abandoned vehicles and fix up their buildings.

Lenks Addition is the fifth neighborhood targeted under the 2006 Model Block program.
