Seneca County goes to court to get delinquent taxes

TIFFIN Seneca County has turned to the courts in an attempt to collect nearly $59,000 owed in delinquent real estate taxes.

The county prosecutor s office filed the foreclosure notices in Seneca County Common Pleas Court against the owners of 44 parcels.

The delinquencies extend to 2004 and include 22 parcels in Fostoria, 9 within Tiffin city limits, and 13 in various townships.

Prosecutor Ken Egbert, Jr., said he also is asking for $15,613 owed in 14 cases involving bankruptcies and private bank foreclosures.

Mr. Egbert said the county has recovered more than $3 million in unpaid taxes in the last 15 years.
