Donations sought by Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is in need of food, clothing, and other material donations to help support its Adult Rehabilitation Center in downtown Toledo.

The center receives funding from proceeds of donated items sold in Salvation Army thrift stores, and those donations are down about 40 percent from a year ago, said Maj. William Greenaway, an administrator at the rehabilitation center.

Major Greenaway said officials attribute the shortfall, in part, to the flooding that occurred this year in the area that could have ruined old clothing and spare items that people commonly store in their basements.

The Salvation Army offers both pickup and drop-off services, and can be contacted by calling 419-241-8231.
