Fostoria man gets 5 years for shooting

FOSTORIA - A 25-year-old Fostoria man who fired multiple gunshots into an East Center Street home in May is going to prison.

William Lamar Jackson, who pleaded guilty to improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation and having a weapon while under disability, was sentenced Thursday to five years in prison in Seneca County Common Pleas Court.

Jackson was involved in a dispute on the street and, in response, fired several shots into the home just after 5 a.m. May 26.

He claimed the other person involved fled into the home, Seneca County Prosecutor Ken Egbert, Jr., said, but none of the three occupants of the home was involved in the dispute, according to investigators.

Jackson was prohibited from having a firearm because he was convicted of trafficking in crack cocaine in 2002.

After firing the shots, Jackson fled but was apprehended June 5 by Fostoria police and has been held in the Seneca County jail.
