Pair indicted in assault of woman at school

A South Toledo couple accused of beating a grandmother they thought was cutting in line in an elementary school parking lot were indicted yesterday by a Lucas County grand jury.

Edward Calvin, 34, and his wife, Kristina, 31, both of 708 Walbridge Ave., were charged with felonious assault in the attack Jan. 31.

They are accused of assaulting Barbara Duerson, 64, of South Toledo, in the parking lot of Glendale-Feilbach Elementary School, 2317 Cass Rd. She was treated at University Medical Center.

Ms. Duerson went to the school to pick up her granddaughter, and the Calvins were waiting to pick up their child.

When Ms. Duerson tried to cut between two vehicles to find a more suitable parking spot, the couple berated her, dragged her out of her car, and beat her, police said.
