A South Toledo man is to appear today in Toledo Municipal Court on numerous drug charges after police found 79 marijuana plants inside his home.

Sherron Files, 31, of 631 Nicholas St. is charged with illegal cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing official business. He was released from the Lucas County jail Tuesday after posting bond following his arraignment in Municipal Court.

Vice narcotics officers saw a drug transaction in the area of Ingomar Avenue and Spencer Street about 4:30 p.m. Monday. Police followed one of the participants to the Nicholas address, where officers found a marijuana-growing operation in the basement. The plants were in various stages of development and would have an estimated street value of $126,400 at full maturity, police said.

Officers also seized assorted grow lamps, power boosters, and suspected crack cocaine.
