BOWLING GREEN A Toledo man convicted earlier this year of passing more than $100,000 in counterfeit checks has been indicted on 12 new felonies, including charges he threatened to kill a witness in his previous criminal case, a Perrysburg Township police detective, and an assistant Wood County prosecutor.

Lee Darrington, 30, who is being held in the Wood County jail, was indicted yesterday by a Wood County grand jury on three counts of retaliation, one count of complicity to commit retaliation, and eight counts of complicity to commit identity fraud.

Assistant Prosecutor Heather Baker said Darrington is accused of threatening to kill her, Detective James Gross, and Bobby Bannister, who was a witness in the prior case.

Adaris Welch, 31, of Toledo, who was acquitted in the counterfeit check case, was indicted on two counts of complicity to commit retaliation.

Amanda Shontner, 25, of Sylvania was indicted on eight counts of complicity to commit identity fraud for conspiring with Darrington to obtain personal information of another person with the intent to hold the person out to be that person.
