TRW Automotive to shut its plant in North Toledo

5/5/2007

TRW Automotive U.S. LLC, which supplies suspension components for the Jeep Liberty, said yesterday that it will close its North Toledo plant next month and lay off its remaining 53 workers.

The company, which is headquartered in Livonia, Mich., said it had been scaling down operations at the plant in anticipation of losing its suspension module contract with the Toledo Jeep Assembly complex. In 2005, DaimlerChrysler chose Dana Corp. as its new supplier of suspension modules for its redesigned 2008 Jeep Liberty.

TRW said it did not have enough other contracts to keep the factory open. It is at 5915 Jason St. in the Northcross Industrial Park.
