Man pleads no contest in Vance Street shooting

An 18-year-old Toledo man charged with shooting a man three times after an argument about a parking space pleaded no contest in Lucas County Common Pleas Court yesterday to felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon.

Ramone Stallworth of 1619 Buckingham St. was accused of shooting Roy Barringer, 43, once in the arm and twice in the buttocks in the 700 block of Vance Street on Dec. 16.

Stallworth got into a confrontation because he was upset that [the victim] was parking his car in their spot, said Tim Braun, an assistant county prosecutor. The victim left with his nephew but returned on foot to retrieve something he had dropped. It was after he returned to the scene that Mr. Barringer was shot, Mr. Braun said.

In a separate incident, Stallworth was found carrying a gun holster and a loaded handgun. He will be sentenced for both charges June 4.
