Area Kroger employees to vote on contract offer

Unionized employees at 28 Kroger Co. stores across northwest Ohio are to meet today to vote on a company contract offer and on whether to authorize leaders to call a strike if the proposal is rejected.

Offi cials of Local 911 of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union, which represents 3,200 Kroger employees in the area, couldn t be reached yesterday evening. But the union s Web site states that the votes are to take at 9 a.m., 4

p.m., and 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn French Quarter in Perrysburg and the Holiday Inn Fremont.

The chain s labor contract in the area expired April 7, but its terms have been extended while negotiations continue.
