Man charged in brother s gun death pleads guilty

7/11/2007

FREMONT A Fremont man accused of fatally shooting his brother last year during an argument while moving furniture from a home changed his plea to guilty to voluntary manslaughter with a firearms specification yesterday.

Ular Davis, 53, originally pleaded not guilty in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court to the charge for the Sept. 10 shooting of Curtis Lamar Lee, 43, of Fremont, who was struck in the face and head with pellets from a shotgun. Mr. Lee was taken to a Toledo hospital, where he died four days later.

Davis also pleaded not guilty to a murder charge filed in March, but that will be dismissed at sentencing under a plea agreement.

There will be a presentence investigation prior to Davis sentencing. Because his charge includes a one-year mandatory prison term for the firearm specification, he faces a maximum of 11 years in prison.
