AKRON A woman who hired her drug-dealing lover to kill her wealthy husband on the Ohio Turnpike on his way to Toledo two years ago was sentenced to life in prison today.

U.S. District Court Judge David D. Dowd Jr. sentenced Donna Moonda, 48, of Hermitage, Pa., in the death of Dr. Gulam Moonda, 68, of Hermitage, Pa. She sobbed occasionally during the sentencing.

The jury that convicted her on four counts, including murder for hire, spared her from the death penalty and unanimously agreed she should get life in prison.

The triggerman, Damian Bradford, 26, of Monaca, Pa., became the prosecution s star witness against his former lover. He got 17 years in prison for killing the victim after Mrs. Moonda pulled over on the side of the turnpike south of Cleveland on May 13, 2005.

Prosecutors said she had promised her boyfriend half of Dr. Moonda s multimillion-dollar estate in return for the killing.
