9/26/2007

One of two Toledoans charged with shooting a man to death during an Aug. 15 robbery was arraigned yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Keishon Midcalf, 26, of 5406 Fleet Rd. pleaded not guilty to one count each of murder, felonious assault, menacing by stalking, and having a weapon under disability, all with firearm specifications.

His co-defendant, Keith McCoy, 19, also of the Fleet address, was given an additional week so that he could hire an attorney. Mr. McCoy is charged with one count each of murder and felonious assault, each with a firearm specification.

Toledo police said Midcalf shot Lorenzo Brown, 28, of 2667 Tremainsville Rd. once in the chest about 3 a.m. after he and two others robbed Brown at gunpoint. Brown died that day in Toledo Hospital.

Both men, who are in the Lucas County jail, are scheduled to appear Oct. 2 before Judge Frederick McDonald.
