Construction crews will break ground Monday on the projected $85 million multipurpose arena in downtown Toledo.
The Lucas County commissioners, Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner, U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo), and other government officials are expected to attend a ceremonial event at 10:30 a.m. at the construction site.
The arena will be built on a site bounded by Madison Avenue, Jefferson Avenue, and Huron Street that spills onto a portion of Superior Street.
The 8,000-seat arena, which is expected to be the home of minor-league hockey, arena football, music concerts, and other events, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2009.
