Parents sue COSI over son's fall in gravity room

A suburban Toledo couple who claim their young son was injured in a fall three years ago in COSI's gravity room has filed a lawsuit in Lucas County Common Pleas Court against the children's science museum.

Keith and Kim Young of 102 North Goodyear, Oregon, are asking for $25,000 from the museum for the injuries their son, Keith, Jr., received Aug. 24, 2004. According to the lawsuit, the injuries were sustained when the boy, then 5, fell during a school field trip.

The lawsuit claims that COSI allowed "a dangerous and hazardous condition to exist" and that the boy "suffered bodily injury including a severe laceration to his forehead and to other parts of his body causing severe pain and discomfort, permanent injury, and undermining his health and well-being."

In addition to compensating the boy for pain, the lawsuit also asks for money to help pay for medical expenses.

The case was assigned to Judge James Bates.
