Finkbeiner to discuss economy, area issues

10/12/2007

Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner discussed economic and social challenges faced by the city he leads and the region surrounding it during a taping this week of the television program Deadline Now, which airs at 8:30 tonight and 2 a.m. tomorrow on WGTE-TV, Channel 30.

The mayor also talked about his career.

When Mr. Finkbeiner, 68, a Democrat, ran for election as mayor in 2005, he promised a better economic future, more high-tech jobs, and a safer city.

He also promised voters a return of the energetic style he brought to the city from 1994 to 2002, during his first two mayoral terms.

Before he was first elected mayor in 1994, Mr. Finkbeiner, a Toledo native, served multiple terms on Toledo City Council.

The mayor was interviewed by Jack Lessenberry, ombudsman for The Blade.
