Inspectors propose fines against Acklin Stamping

Federal workplace inspectors have proposed $9,000 in fines against the Acklin Stamping Co. for serious safety violations at the firm s Toledo plant.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited the company at 1925 Nebraska Ave. after inspections May 26 and May 27. The violations include a press that wasn t tested by the company to determine if it was working properly and an employee failed to safely secure a press while freeing jammed parts in a press.

Firm President Paul Bishop said safety is important to the company. The problems cited were corrected during the inspections.
