COLUMBUS For a $16 million project to expand its production and research, Crown Battery Manufacturing Co. was awarded a 40 percent, five-year job tax credit yesterday by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority.
The project is to create 55 jobs and retain 309, each with wages of about $12 an hour. The project includes adding 88,000 square feet to its 220,000-square-foot factory to develop products.
It includes the purchase of a battery operation in Mexico and, if a long-term supply contract can be negotiated, to move work into Sandusky County. The credit, worth about $67,000, will begin in January, 2011.
