Man sentenced to six years in prison for attack in Monroe County
2/29/2008MONROE Charles Fackelman of Toledo was sentenced to nearly six years in prison Friday for a gun-toting attack on the Lambertville man who he held responsible for causing the traffic accident that killed his 17-year-old son.
Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Joseph Costello, Jr. imposed a two-year mandatory sentence for gun possession and an additional 45 to 240-month sentence for pulling a loaded gun on Randy Krell and his neighbor.
Mr. Krell was taken at gunpoint by Fackelman on March 24, but escaped after he fled to the home of the neighbor, Tom Williams.
Mr. Krell was sent to jail in August for his role in the June, 2006, death of the defendant's son, Charlie Fackelman.
On Jan. 30 a jury found Fackelman, 47, guilty but mentally ill of home evasion, two counts of felonious assault, and the weapons charge.
