Brondes Ford Toledo has sued its fire-detection provider and others for $13.9 million to reclaim damages incurred in its 2002 dealership fire.

The suit in Lucas County Common Pleas Court is against Habitec Securities Inc. and SimplexGrinnell Fire and Security. Brondes cited a faulty fire-detection system installed and maintained by the defendants as adding to the scope of the damages. No trial date has been set.

Ruled an accidental fire, the blaze destroyed the showroom on Secor Road. The dealership has a new one at 5545 Secor Rd.
