Drunken driver reported by daughter is sentenced

MONROE A Hamtramck, Mich., man whose teenage daughter called 911 on a cell phone to report that her drunken father was driving them on I-75 was sentenced yesterday in Monroe County Circuit Court.

Pawel Bozek, 39, was ordered by Judge Jack Vitale to pay $1,260 in fines and court costs.

Mr. Bozek, who was stopped Feb. 11, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.22 percent nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent in Michigan. He pleaded guilty April 1 to drunken driving.

The 13-year-old girl told authorities he was trying to drive to Florida. Prosecutors dismissed a charge of child endangering.
