An East Toledo man accused of stabbing another man in the chest was arraigned yesterday in Toledo Municipal Court, authorities said.

Samuel Pratt, 29, of 1540 Lakewood St., who was charged with felonious assault, was being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of a $75,000 bond.

The victim, David Lopez, 20, was taken to Toledo Hospital, where a nursing supervisor said yesterday she had no information on a patient by that name.

Mr. Pratt went to an apartment at 1803 Christian Ave., in West Toledo about 3:50 a.m. Sunday. He told police he was there to visit his children, a report said.

Mr. Pratt and a woman who owns the apartment began arguing and the woman asked Mr. Pratt to leave. Three people managed to get Mr. Pratt into the hallway, where he is accused of punching at least two of them, police said.

He then began pounding on his wife's apartment door, saying he was being assaulted. She let Mr. Pratt inside and he went into the kitchen and grabbed a knife. His wife tried unsuccessfully to take it away from him, police said.

Mr. Pratt returned to the hallway and stabbed Mr. Lopez once in the chest. Officers found the knife believed to have been used in the attack cleaned and wet in a kitchen drawer, police said.

Mr. Pratt was treated at Toledo Hospital for a cut to his lip and head, police said.
