Former Toledo Councilman Bob McCloskey was transferred yesterday from a federal prison camp in Kentucky to a halfway house in the Toledo area for the remainder of his sentence for bribery, the U.S. Bureau of Prisons said. The location of the halfway house was not disclosed.

McCloskey, 62, served about 20 months of a 27-month sentence in the Bureau of Prisons facility in Ashland. He s expected to be at the halfway house 60 to 90 days.

U.S. District Judge David Katz sentenced McCloskey to the 27-month sentence in July, 2006, for accepting $2,000 and $3,000 bribes offered five weeks apart from a businessman who wanted assistance from the city on development projects.

McCloskey, a Democrat who was on council 13 years, also was given a concurrent one-year punishment in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for an unrelated bribery conviction. He resigned from council in May, 2006.
