DETROIT Four-time Stanley Cup-winner Ted Lindsay has told a federal jury in Detroit Vladimir Konstantinov was the world s best hockey player before a disabling crash ended his career.

The 82-year-old ex-Red Wings star testified Monday Konstantinov would have led the team to at least two more Stanley Cups had he not been hurt.

A U.S. District Court jury is hearing a suit by Konstantinov and ex-Red Wings masseur Sergei Mnatsakanov over a limo crash that left them with disabling brain injuries.

The limo was taking them home from a party June 13, 1997 when the driver crashed. Konstantinov and Mnatsakanov sued a Findlay, Ohio, Ford dealership that sold the limo.

The dealership says it isn t liable because it didn t make the vehicle.
