Toledo man, 33, indicted in rape of captive held for hours

A Toledo man accused of locking a woman inside a central Toledo apartment and raping her over a period of several hours was indicted yesterday by a Lucas County grand jury.

Benjanell Butler, Jr., 33, of 1020 Woodstock Ave., was charged with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of rape. He was being held in the county jail in lieu of $200,000 bond. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 40 years in prison.

Butler is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting the woman on April 26 in the apartment in the 2200 block of Collingwood Boulevard.
