Columbia Gas of Ohio files rate-hike request

5/17/2008

Columbia Gas of Ohio has asked state regulators for permission to raise its natural-gas rate in June to $1.33 per 100 cubic feet, 11 cents more than the current rate.

The utility filed its request yesterday with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, which is expected to approve it.

The firm charged $1.03 a year ago. It expects customers bills next month to average $43, as warmer temperatures will diminish natural-gas usage.
