Rite Aid Corp. said that by month s end, it expects to complete its purchase of eight area Pharm stores, operate just seven of them as Rite Aids, and put the eighth store, on Wheeling Street in Oregon, up for sale.

The Camp Hill, Pa.-based drug-store chain said it is not buying Pharm stores at 2527 Parkway Plaza, Maumee; 2725 West Central Ave., Toledo; North County Line Street, Fostoria, and on West Market Street, Tiffin. However, it is buying pharmacy customer lists from those stores and will transfer prescriptions to nearby Rite Aids.

An official of the union representing Pharm workers had said he was told Rite Aid would buy 12 stores and close five. Spartan Stores Inc., which is selling the Pharm, will shut the stores in Toledo, Maumee, Tiffin, and Fostoria.
