Man gets 17-month term for assaulting officer

BOWLING GREEN A man from Ottawa County s Graytown was convicted of assaulting a police officer from southern Wood County s North Baltimore and was sentenced yesterday to 17 months in prison.

Richard Adams, 24, also was placed on community control for three years by Judge Alan Mayberry of Wood County Common Pleas Court for failure to comply with the order of a police officer and obstructing official business.

Adams was convicted following a one-day jury trial. He was acquitted on the more serious count of aggravated robbery.

Adams assaulted Officer Scott Herrick after he tried to pull over Adams pickup Jan. 1.
