Washington Local teacher pleads not guilty to sexual imposition

6/3/2008

A former fourth-grade teacher in the Washington Local School District was arraigned yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court after he was accused of inappropriately touching a 10-year-old female student.

Robert Wilson, 31, 3205 Wendover Drive, pleaded not guilty to gross sexual imposition.

Because the victim is younger than 13 years old, conviction on the charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Judge Ruth Ann Franks set a July 16 trial date.

Mr. Wilson, who left his teaching position after the accusation was made this year, was released on his own recognizance. According to the indictment filed May 29, the incident is alleged to have occurred sometime during the week of Dec. 17-21.
