Attendance, revenue soft, Cedar Fair reports

SANDUSKY Early attendance and revenues have been soft at most amusement parks in Cedar Fair LP s northern region, which includes Cedar Point.

Those losses have been offset by gains at parks in the South and West, Chief Executive Dick Kinzel said yesterday in an assessment of business through June 1.

Overall attendance across the Erie County firm s 11 amusement parks and seven water parks nationwide is relatively unchanged from a year ago, he added. He did not provide specifics about individual parks.

In the northern region, the only park where sales have increased is Canada s Wonderland near Toronto, which this year opened a roller coaster called the Behemoth. Sales stayed strong for season passes and group business at all parks, although hotel bookings were down from 2007.
