Cooper Tire cuts output in North America plants

6/24/2008

FINDLAY Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., which makes tires mostly for the replacement market, said yesterday it had reduced production at its North American factories during the second quarter.

It attributed the reduction to decreased demand for tires and to projected shortages of some raw materials. The firm did not provide specifics on the cuts or say whether layoffs would increase or overtime would be decreased. It said the cuts will cost an estimated $12 million to $14 million.
