KALAMAZOO, Mich. A Kalamazoo trucking company with offices in Perrysburg ceased operations yesterday after 67 years in business, citing rising fuel costs and weakened demand in the automotive parts sector.

Alvan Motor Freight Inc. employed approximately 525 people across the Midwest, including an unknown number at its Perrysburg terminal. James Van Zoeren, the company s president and chief executive officer, also cited the credit crisis and overcapacity in the trucking industry.
