LIMA, Ohio A slowdown in orders from the military is leading to job cuts at Lima's tank plant.

The plant's manager says 83 employees will be laid off next month.

About 1,000 people work at the plant that makes military vehicles and armor for the war in Iraq.

The latest job cuts are being made because the Marine Corps is pulling back orders for a mine-resistant vehicle.

Plant manager Keith Deters says it's possible that some of the laid off workers will be brought back if orders increase next spring.

The plant in Lima once employed 3,800 people during the 1980s.
