Bryan man gets 30 years for child porn on computer

10/28/2008

A Bryan man whose home computer had 60,000 images of child pornography, including depictions of himself sexually assaulting two girls who visited his home for a sleep-over, was sentenced yesterday in federal court in Toledo to 30 years in prison.

Dale Allen Walls, 38, an unemployed warehouse distribution worker and father of two girls, pleaded guilty July 14 to two counts of producing child pornography and one count each of possessing child pornography and receipt and distribution of child pornography.

U.S. District Judge Jack Zouhary yesterday gave Walls 30 years for the production convictions and 10 years for the possession conviction, along with 10 years for receipt and distribution.

Tom Weldon, an assistant U.S. attorney, said after Walls' release from prison, he will be on probation the rest of his life.

His Feb. 7 arrest resulted from follow-up investigations the FBI began after the October, 2007, arrest of a Florida man with whom Walls exchanged child porn images via the Internet.
