Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop said yesterday he would again submit a resolution to his fellow commissioners to stop $450,000 in funding for a window replacement program for a county-owned building at 701 Adams St. - and would propose spending $250,000 of that money to help provide "on-the-job training" for local workers.

Such programs are partially funded by the federal government, but Mr. Konop said the county needed more to deal with layoffs such as the recently announced elimination of positions at the Toledo North Assembly plant.

Mr. Konop tried last week to eliminate the window-replacement program, but the resolution was tabled by fellow Commissioners Tina Skeldon Wozniak and Pete Gerken.
