Man dies after SUV is struck by train

SANDUSKY A Sandusky man was killed Thursday when his sport utility vehicle was struck by a freight train on a Norfolk Southern Railway crossing about two miles southeast of here in Erie County, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Keith Kellem, 46, the driver and only occupant of the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers at the patrol s Sandusky post said.

Mr. Kellem was driving east on Perkins Avenue near U.S. 6 about 1 a.m. when he apparently drove around the railway gates and stopped on the crossing. His vehicle then was struck by the westbound train, troopers said.
