Lucas County receives $5 million state grant for East Toledo site

Lucas County has received a $5 million grant from the state to develop a former East Toledo refinery site, according to the Ohio Department of Development.

The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, which bought the 181-acres in May, hopes to use the grant to help with its plan to turn the land, formerly owned by Chevron Corp., into a working cargo terminal and manufacturing center for alternative energy companies.

The grant is part of the Ohio Department of Development s Job Ready Sites program.
