A Richfield Township man was struck on the head and bound after two men invaded his home and stole several shotguns and rifles, Lucas County sheriff's deputies said.

Ronald Smith, whose age was not immediately available, was admitted to Toledo Hospital in fair condition, a hospital spokesman said.

Mr. Smith entered his home about 9 p.m. Tuesday, let his dog out, and went upstairs. He was struck on the head when he came back downstairs, Detective Phil Williams said.

Mr. Smith suffered a head injury on the left side of his skull near his eye, the detective said.

Two men, their faces covered with cloth masks, then used electrical cord to tie the victim's hands and a pair of socks to tie his feet. They took the guns and several other items, Detective Williams said.

The victim was bound for about 10 minutes before he used scissors to free himself and contacted authorities, the detective said.
