Mercy Health partners donates medical supplies, gear

Mercy Health Partners filled a large shipping container on Thursday with donated medical supplies and equipment that will be shipped to Our Lady of Apostles Hospital and Orphanage in Jos, Nigeria.

More than 100 items, including defibrillators, an ultrasound unit, a microscope, an incubator, surgical gloves and masks, and blankets were included.

In all, Mercy Health Partners hospitals in the Toledo and Lorain regions donated $22,000 in supplies and equipment, said Sarah Bednarski, a spokesman for Mercy Health Partners.

Mercy s parent organization, Catholic Healthcare Partners based in Cincinnati, donated $15,000 for the cost of shipping the container to Nigeria, which is expected to arrive by mid-January.
