ASHLAND, Ohio - A Sandusky man was killed yesterday when his sport utility vehicle slid off U.S. 250 in eastern Ashland County and overturned several times, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Fred Kline, 63, died while en route to Ashland Samaritan Hospital, troopers at the Ashland post said.

Mr. Kline was eastbound on U.S. 250, west of Rowsburg, Ohio, in Ashland County's Perry Township, when his SUV went off the right side of the road and down an embankment.

The vehicle overturned several times before hitting a telephone pole and coming to rest on its side, troopers said.

Mr. Kline was unresponsive and trapped in his vehicle when law enforcement officials and medical personnel arrived. He was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
