Two people were hurt Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on South Fearing Boulevard near Hill Avenue, police said.

The victims, whose names were not released, were taken by ambulance to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital.

Police said their injuries appeared nonlife-threatening.

Sgt. Lee Kikolski said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control, and slid sideways into a utility pole.

The driver was trapped inside for a brief time before being extracted using the Jaws of Life, the sergeant said.
