MONROE A Monroe Public Schools bus driver and aide were injured Wednesday morning when their bus collided with a tractor trailer on South Telegraph Road at Albain Road, a school spokesman said.

Bus driver Bonnie Warner and Gloria Herrera, an aide on the bus, were taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital, where they were being treated for non-life threatening injuries, said Bobb Vergiels, spokesman for the school district.

There were no students on the bus.

Mr. Vergiels said the bus driver was returning to the district bus garage on Albain after dropping off students at Monroe County Intermediate School on South Raisinville Road.

He said Ms. Warner, who has been a driver for the district since 1977, was driving east on Albain and collided with the semi in the intersection.

The accident, which is under investigation by Michigan State Police, shut down traffic on both roadways for about an hour.
